Sloane Café

The Sloane Café sees Axiom Structures deliver the permanent and temporary engineering design for a full interior transformation of an existing corner building into a bar and dining room. The scheme reworks the ground floor into a marble-topped bar with full-height oak display shelving, and adjoining room finished in teal panelling beneath the building’s original arched shop-front windows.

To create an open, connected layout between the bar and dining room, Axiom Structures designed a new structural opening through existing load-bearing walls, formed using a steel goalpost frame supported on new padstones. All steelwork was exposed and required careful consideration and coordination with M&E.
The existing masonry above was temporarily propped throughout construction while the new steelwork was installed and the load transferred, safeguarding the structure above during the works.
